Adventure Teambuilding
Adventure Team Building is a unique and challenging team building program that enables your team to reach new heights in individual and group development. Individuals work as a team to complete a series of challenging activities that focus on valuable life skills and can be applied to everyday situations. The non-competitive, non-judgmental environment fosters feelings of synergy and creative problem solving to expand communication, trust and leadership goals. The activities are designed to build respect and confidence, while allowing participants to be actively involved in the learning process by thinking, feeling and doing.

Our staff will work with your group to design a program to meet your individual needs and goals. The program operates on the philosophy of "challenge by choice" where each individual determines the level of involvement best suited to him or her while still contributing to the team process.

Various programs are offered including, but not limited to:

We all recognize the value of teamwork to ensure success in an increasingly competitive world. We only have to look at enthusiasm and commitment of players in a successful team on the sports field to realize the potential that good teamwork could provide for our own organization if we can get it right.

Good teamwork makes people feel more valued and leads to better communications, motivation and flexibility of staff, together with greater involvement in solving problems and improving business.

The value of the outdoors as a vehicle for improving teamwork and leadership skills has long been recognized. Taking people out of their normal environment and then face some physical challenge brings home the need for co-operation and teamwork in a very forceful way. Providing the team with constructive feedback on their performances and discussions on how the lessons can be applied back in the work situation helps to ensure that participants and the organization gain full benefits of the training.

Orienteering/Topo Map Travel
1 day
7 to 8 hours

Arrive at our small headquarters in Andover and get ready for some challenging fun.

After you get warmed up we will explain to you how to navigate with a map and compass.  Then each team will be sent out into the woods to find there way around the course.

Orienteering is a competitive form of land navigation. It is for all ages and degrees of fitness and skill. It provides the suspense and excitement of a treasure hunt. The object of orienteering is to locate control points by using a map and compass to navigate through the woods.

Each orienteering group is given a topographic map with the various control points circled. Each point has a marker and a challenge to complete before finding the next marker.  The challenges can be a thinking challenge or a physical one.  Obstacles will be around every corner to make the group stop and think.  Orienteering challenges both the mind and the body; however, the competitor's ability to think under pressure and make wise decisions is more important than speed or endurance.

The Kayak & Canoe Challenge
1 day
7 to 8 hours

Arrive at our small headquarters in Andover and get ready for some challenging fun.

Next we will move on to our water challenge.  Teams will be given canoes & kayaks, life vests, treasure maps of the area and a supply backpack loaded with essential items needed to complete their quest. Building Success
1 day
7 to 8 hours

Arrive at our small headquarters in Andover and get ready for some challenging fun.

Ignite your team’s creative energy as they brainstorm and build a creation of your choice while the clock ticks. Moving through the stages of “product development,” they’ll renew their excitement and commitment while collaborating in a fun, lively setting.

Teams receive instructions, design clues and building supplies, then develop a design concept and construction plan. Once built, they are shared with the other teams.

Building Success can be outdoors at almost any location. Whether you decide to build a boat, a bridge, or a snow shelter, we can build a custom program that engages your team mentally and physically while meeting your training needs.

We always try to use the object that is made (by floating it down a river or trying to cross it, etc.).  The teams are put to the test to see who built something that will actually work.

Whether your group is learning about resource sharing, cycle time, collaboration vs. competition, or just looking for a fun way to spend an afternoon, Building Success is even more effective when combined with organizational effectiveness workshops like Team Decision-Making or Communications.

Wilderness Adventure
3 days 2 nights

Arrive at our small headquarters in Andover and get ready for some challenging fun.

This is a fun action packed, and at the same time, relaxing 3 days.  After the introduction to our staff we will head off into the Green Mountains.  You will be hiking with packs carrying everything you will need for the next two days.  You will be hiking on the Long Trail for the rest of the day to a nice lean-to beside the trail where you will set up a camp together.  After the camp is set up you will prepare your dinner.  This first night we want everyone to sit back and relax around a fire.  The next day the group will make breakfast and then head back out on the trail.  Once we reach the next road we will meet the van(s) so they can take us off to the next adventure.  You will be hiking to the top of a 300' cliff and then rappelling down it.  The group is going to have to help each other out the whole time to make the rappel a success.  Once the rappel is over we will go to our next camping spot.  This will be in an actual campground and you will have the chance to shower and get cleaned up.  We will do team building activities and tell stories around the fire.  The next day the group will fix breakfast and then move on the the next adventure.  On this day you will learn all about kayaking and canoeing.  You will have a great time in the water.  Then the group will have to portage all of the boats a 1/2 mile to a 7 mile lake (choose your boats carefully).  Once at the lake the group will have to use a map and compass to find buoys that have challenges for the group to complete.  Once you have reached the end of the lake we will get into the vans and go back to Extreme Adventure of Vermont's classroom and go over the trip.   This is sure to bring people together and strengthen any team.

Lost
2 nights

Have you ever been lost? This program is designed to bring a group together so that they can survive.  The program is only 2 nights and well supervised so you are not actually lost but it may feel like you are with the tasks that we make you do.  You will be brought to a remote piece of wilderness.  The group will be given supplies to use throughout the time lost.  There will be goals that must be reached and a helpful prize given to the group for each task completed.  Some examples of tasks are: start a fire, catch a fish to eat, build shelter, and help a hurt group member.  The whole time you are lost you will be doing team building activities and even some friendly games.  Remember you are in nature you could get lucky and have 2 starry nights or you could have rain.  We recommend that people dress for rain because all you will take into the wild is what you have on your back.  This is fun and brings people together and gets them back to basics and back to nature.
